Before heavy steel subway trains carried derby-wearing theater-goers to the Great White Way in Times Square... Even before wooden elevated cars swayed down the middle of New Utrecht Avenue, their trolley poles raining sparks into the dusty street... A man named Gunther decided to make his fortune speeding patrons to the rural flats south of the City of Brooklyn and the breezes of Coney Island.
